Hi! Angels Working On Earth Family!

I love a good workout – getting sweaty, feeling flushed, and enjoying that exhilarating feeling of pure energy! Just do it! Try my tips for getting the most out of each workout. It will take time, and chances are you, in the beginning, you might not be feeling motivated. That’s normal! Get it up. Stand up. Walk forward. Now, wasn’t that easy? Start with baby steps, and soon you’ll be making progress. If you don’t see the results, you may not be recovering between sessions! Try these tips and let me know if it works for you?

1. Warm-up!

Fam START with a warm-up! NEVER skip a warm-up. Don’t be tempted to take a deep dive and jump right into a high-intensity workout. It would help if you remembered that your muscles need to warm up first. You may want to take a few minutes to train essential muscle groups. Warming up prevents injury and allows you to use your muscles correctly. You’ll be able to perform movements correctly, and you get more out of them too! Be sure to take a few minutes to warm up!

2. Food is fuel!

Are you fueling your car? You are the car, and the food is the fuel! As you work out, your body will need more energy. It will also help if you consider the types of food you require. Different activities require different energy requirements.

Getting enough macros is essential. If you eat enough protein and carbohydrates each day, then your body will have enough fuel to replenish your body and energy stores.

Consider eating a post-workout meal that includes a quality source of complex carbohydrates and high fiber protein. The idea is to synthesize your muscles after a workout, so you’re getting more out of the session. You should see better results faster, as well as bringing your energy levels up quicker. As a result, you won’t feel drained and depleted. Eating high fiber proteins and low carbs reduces the chance that you will grab junk foods to reenergize.

I have a suggestion. How about something quick and easy? A smoothie? Try a banana and spinach smoothie. Add your favorite spices and healthy sweetener. Bananas are a great source of carbs, and spinach is an excellent source of protein, plus some nut butter for healthy fats!

3. Stretch

Stretching is very similar to warming up. Stretching is more specific. If you are consistent, you will experience less muscular resistance. You can’t be consistent if you have sore, tight, aching muscles! Consider taking 5-10 minutes after and before every workout to stretch. Try and hold each stretch for around 20 to 30 seconds to get the most out of it. Be specific and target the muscles you use the most during your workout.

I bet you will feel great the next time you work out!

4. Take rest days!

Breaks and going with the flow are vital to getting the most out of your workouts! Like a car, your body needs to rest, recover and repair. During times of rest, the muscles strengthen and rebuild. Think about it in terms of your muscles are improving for your next workout.

I like to have at least 1-2 rest days per week and mix in a light walk or yoga on that day. Try it and let me know what works for you.
